Step away from traditional opening theory and dive into the unpredictable world of Fischer Random Chess (also known as Chess960). In this exciting variant, the starting position of the pieces is randomized, leading to unique games from the very first move. This special two-night, 6-round rapid event is a fantastic way to level the playing field and test your pure chess understanding and adaptability over the board.

The rules of the game are the same as standard chess, but in an effort to reduce the impact of opening theory, the pieces have been randomly shuffled on each player's back rank.

The starting position for Fischer random chess must meet the following rules:

• White pawns are placed on their orthodox home squares.

• All remaining white pieces are placed on the first rank.
