About the event

A fun night of playing a Fischer Random/ Chess 960 tournament.

Chess960, or Fischer Random, is a variant invented by the late World Champion Bobby Fischer. The rules of the game are the same as standard chess, but in an effort to reduce the impact of opening theory, the pieces have been randomly shuffled on each player's back rank.

The starting position for Fischer random chess must meet the following rules:

  • White pawns are placed on their orthodox home squares.

  • All remaining white pieces are placed on the first rank.

  • The white king is placed somewhere between the two white rooks.
