About the event

The Burleigh Classical Summer Grades will include 2 exciting grades. I - The Premier Grade - The top 8 FIDE rated players will play in a single Round Robin format. FIDE/ACF/QJ Rated II - The Challenger Grade – The remaining players will play in a 7 round Swiss format. ACF/QJ Rated Eligibility: 2024 CAQ membership is required. CAQ membership: https://caq.org.au/membership/ Entry Fees: GCCC Members $35 (Discount Applied at Checkout Automatically if Logged In) Non-Members $70 Time control: 60 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move 1 Schedule:

Premier Grade – Vega using Single Round Robin Challenger Grade - Vega using Swiss Dutch FIDE JaVaFo

Tie Break:

Premier 1.Direct Encounter;2.Greatest Wins; 3.Sonneborn-Berger; 4.Koya

Challenger 1.Buchholz Cut 1; 2.Buchholz; 3.Direct Encounter. In case of a tie, all prize money for placings will be evenly split. Players are eligible for 1 prize only the largest one they can win. Forfeiture time: 30 minutes from advertised start time. Byes: Premier: No Byes allowed – all matches must be played.  Missed games may be rescheduled with the agreement of the arbiter and both players.

Challenger: Half Point Byes: A maximum of two half point byes only will be permitted for rounds 1 to 5 Provisional Pairings will be published on Wednesday evening. Arbiter must be informed by Wednesday, 5 pm if you require a bye for the following round. Prizes: Total Prize Pool: $800 The Premier Grade Prizes: 1st $200, 2nd $100 and 3rd $50 and 1st Rating Group A $75 The Challenger Grade 1st $150, 2nd $100, 3rd $50 and 1st Rating Group B $75 In the case of a tie prize money will be shared. Players are eligible for 1 prize only and will be awarded the larger prize. Arbiters: The event will be conducted as a player arbiter event.
