FIDE RATED Coomera Halloween Rapid

The Gold Coast Chess Club invites you to play in a 7-round Swiss tournament.   

Located in Upper Coomera In the northern suburbs of the Gold Coast QLD. 

Only 30 minutes from Logan/South Brisbane.

The tournament will be open to adult and juniors. 

There will be 2 separate divisions  - Open(FIDE/ACF Quick/QJ RATED) and Under 800QJ (QJ Rated).

Unrated players are welcome.

Eligibility for Open Tournament:

ALL PLAYERS PLAYING IN THE OPEN DIVISION MUST BE A MEMBER OF THE CHESS ASSOCIATION OF QUEENSLAND.

Players without FIDE IDs must be Australian citizens or permanent residents to enter or they will be required to request a FIDE ID be issued from their country of citizenship prior to acceptance of registration.

Children with a Queensland Junior rating under 800 may play in the Open tournament, if approved by the arbiter. 

Adults will need to play in the Open Division.

Supervision of children outside of the playing hall is solely the responsibility of the parent or caregiver, not the Arbiter or Organiser of the tournament.

Open Division: 

Prizes: 1st $300, 2nd $200 3rd $100

3 x Rating Group $150

Junior Under 800 QJ Division:

Juniors Under 800 QJ – Trophies 1st, 2nd and 3rd

Under 8s - Trophies Champion and Runner-Up

Entry Fee:

Open Division (FIDE Rated) -  $50 (GCCC Members $40)

Junior U800QJ - $35 (GCCC Members $28)

Time control: 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment from move 1

Pairing System:

Vega - Open Tournament

Swiss Perfect - Junior Tournament

Tie Break:

Vega 1. Direct Encounter 2.  Buchholz cut 1.  3 Average rating of Opponent

Schedule:

Start: Saturday 11:30

Round 1 start @ 11:30 am Rounds 2-7 will commence once all players are complete their rounds.

Players arriving late will be given a half point bye and paired for Round 2.

Presentations: Approximately 5 pm

Forfeiture time:

15 minutes from start time.

Half Point Byes:

A maximum of two half point byes only will be permitted for rounds 1 to 5

In case of a tie, the Tournament title will be decided on tie-break but all prize money for placings will be evenly split.
