On Saturday, November 26th, the Gold Coast Chess Club descended onto the QLD Teams Championships with 6 teams - our largest entry to date. Many great matches were played at Pimpama Kings CC over the day with GCCC Team 1 winning 26.5 points to finish 4th out of 26 teams. Several masters were in attendance including GM David Smerdon and IM Alex Wohl.

Our top individual performers were Kerry Stead (Board 3 - Team 1) and Luka Hart (Board 6 - Team 3) that both finished on an impressive 6/7. In the A Division - Team 5 finished on 21.5 points, 1/2 point behind the winners to claim 2nd place, with Team 4 and Team 6 close behind in 4th and 5th place.

We ran an Olympiad Appeal raffle and raised $555 for the next Olympiad Appeal over the past week which is outstanding - thanks to Dea for her great efforts on the day and congratulations to Iago on winning the classic 1970's Italian marble set. We also had a chance to present David Esmonde with his Life Membership Award and hand out awards to Mars, Christian and Kotaro from our 2022 Awards night. Special thanks to Okyay for taking some great photos on the day too. How can we wrestle this prize from the winners Epic Epicness (34 points) next year?
