GMs Take Top Spot in the 3rd Annual Comon Professionals Arianne Caoili Memorial Weekender

The Queensland chess community of 105 players came together this past weekend, September 2nd and 3rd, to contest the 2023 Arianne Caoili Memorial Weekender at the Broadbeach Cultural Centre. With 9 titled players in the field, including two of Australia's famous Grandmasters, GM Zong-Yuan Zhao and GM David Smerdon, we were assured of some excellent and exciting chess matches. From our youngest entrant at 6 years old to our eldest at 86, all began round 1 hopeful of taking home a share of the $5600 in prizes on offer.
