Orsen and Byron Win the Banter Blitz

On Friday, December 9th, for the last club night of the year, 17 players entered a blitz night with a twist. Talking at the board was encouraged which gave an advantage to some great blitz banterers and added a new level to the games of others.

Fresh off of a 2nd Place Team finish at the Australian Schools Teams Championships, Byron Morris, kept up his winning ways on the night, winning 8/9 games. Byron lost his only match to Orsen who was cruising to a picket fence when he lost his final round match to reigning GCCC Blitz Champ Ben Skinner, thereby also finishing on 8/9. Junior Cooper finished in 3rd place with an impressive 6.5/9. Our Rating Group of U800 was won by Deniz with a 5/9 result. In all a really fun night of chess was had by all.
